The students, staff and governors of de Stafford School in Caterham are delighted that the school has made the leap from 'satisfactory' to 'good' in its latest Ofsted report.

The school was inspected on the 16th and 17th March and in it's opening paragraph, the report says: "de Stafford has made significant improvements since its last inspection and is now a good school. It provides a well ordered, calm and safe community for students, who enjoy their learning and are making good progress." The shift from being 'satisfactory' to 'good' is a difficult one to make as there is a more rigorous framework in place compared to when the previous inspection took place.

Head teacher, Caroline Longhurst, said: "I was especially pleased with the way the report was so positively written. I am also very pleased that 93% of the parents said they were happy with the school."

The report stated that: "A higher than average proportion of parents and carers responded to the inspection questionnaire. The very large majority of them are happy with their child's experience at de Stafford."

John Troake, Chairman of Governors of de Stafford School said: "We are absolutely delighted with the momentum of change. It is quite clear now that against other local schools we are deemed as good which is important for the community around us. I am chuffed to bits with this report."

Year 10 student, Atusa Hibibian said: "I really like coming here. de Stafford has a nice community feel. You can come to school with a smile on your face!"
