The Mayor comes to play at Croydon High Juniors
Published: Friday, 23 March 2012 12:48

Croydon High Juniors were delighted to welcome The Worshipful, The Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Graham Bass to the school for the Grand Opening of their new playground recently.

The sun shone as, after an opening trumpet fanfare perfectly played by Ekaterina Pitt, the splendid Year 6 Cheerleading Team performed a special piece which was followed by a song from all the girls. Georgina Chimonides, one of the Reception class, made a speech describing how much she enjoyed the playground and then some of the older girls thanked all those involved in the planning and building work which is just one part of the major refurbishment and development project underway at the school.

Croydon High Head, Debbie Leonard, praised the girls for their work with the architects, explaining that all the girls had got involved in deciding just what they would like in their playground. The Mayor then spoke about the importance of playing and of being adventurous and then cut the ribbon to a rousing cheer before the girls rushed to enjoy their fantastic new playground.
