Fun with the Fire Brigade at Tots Village Nursery
Published: Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:45

There was great excitement at Tots Village Nursery recently when members of Surrey Fire Brigade arrived in a fire engine to visit the children at the nursery in Burntwood Lane, Caterham-on-the-Hill. The visit took place on Friday 20th September and was the highlight of a week spent learning about the role of the fire service in the community. The firefighters had visited the nursery the previous Monday to deliver a box of goodies for the children. In the box were firefighters' jackets and helmets, books on firefighting, keeping safe and helping people.

There were also puzzles and a DVD to help the children learn about fire safety and what fire fighters do. To top off the week the firefighters showed the children around a real fire engine!

Ann Kingston of Tots Village Nursery said: "Our children and staff want to say a big thank you to the Fire Brigade.

They had a wonderful time and definitely believe learning is fun."

Over the coming months different people from the community will be visiting the nursery to explain their role to the children. These will include a visit from a local librarian for story telling and a visit from a dentist who will talk to the children about looking after their teeth.
