Caterham School Hockey First XI reach the National Plate Final
Published: Monday, 27 April 2015 15:01

On Thursday 23 April Caterham School 1st XI hockey team played Reed’s School in the Boy’s Hockey National Schools Plate Final at the Lee Valley Hockey Centre on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Caterham School had qualified for the final be defeating Magdalen College School, Oxford 4-1 in the semi-final the day before with Ross Powell scoring a hat trick.

The final against Reed’s was a close match. Reed’s took the lead 0-2 and although Caterham fought back they could only score one goal.

Caterham School Head of Hockey, Andrew Patterson, said: ‘Although we lost 1-2 the team should be very proud of their achievement in reaching the Plate Final. They have played some outstanding hockey throughout this tournament. I was particularly impressed with the way they showed considerable character and resilience to come back so well against an excellent team.’
