This month we feature Caterham resident Neil Burtenshaw. Neil runs a curtain and blind business and is a scout leader at 1st Caterham St. Mary’s Scout Group. He is also on the Carnival and Caterham Festival Street Party Committees.

Birthplace:Redhill.

Marital Status:Married to Geraldine.

Family: Two boys, Mark and Michael.

Cars: Ford Focus and Ford Transit van.

Pets: None.

Childhood hero: Chelsea FC legend Peter Osgood.

Pastimes: All sports and camping.

Favourite Food & Drink: Real Ale, red wine and sausages.

Likes: Crawley Town FC.

Dislikes: People that use their mobile phones while driving.

Favourite TV show: ‘Inspector Morse’ and ‘Lewis’.

Favourite books: Dick Francis novels.

Favourite holiday destination: The Lake District.

Biggest influence on your life: My friend Ray Bristow.

Who would you most like to throw a custard pie at? People who cut down woodland for housing.

Favourite song of all time: Dire Straits ‘Brothers in Arms’.

Proudest moment: When my mixed scout team won both the football and the netball competition against 60 other teams from across the world during ‘Peak 2010’, the five-yearly scout jamboree that was held at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

Most embarrassing moment: When my leg went into spasm and I collapsed in a pond in Cambridge.

Where would you most like to live? In a woodland.

Who would you most like to meet? Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor.

If you won the Lottery jackpot, how would you spend it? I would look after my family and friends and buy a campsite.
