Statement from Conservative Party candidate Sam Gyimah
Published: Tuesday, 06 June 2017 08:46

“It's been a huge privilege to have represented East Surrey for the last seven years. This is a wonderful constituency with a tremendous community spirit, and I've been proud to have been able to speak for the area at the highest levels of government.

"As Theresa May’s candidate in East Surrey, I am determined if re-elected that the interests of all our residents will be taken into account in all major decisions, both local and national. That means electing a strong and stable Conservative government in the national interest”.

Sam went on to outline his priorities for the local area including: fighting to protect the unique and special character of our area; fairer funding for Surrey to deliver social care and vital local services; and the revitalisation of our high streets.

Speaking about his priorities for the campaign, Sam said:

“In East Surrey, we have beautiful rolling countryside, most of which has been recognised as green belt; vibrant towns and beautiful villages. We have great community spirit and pride in our area, and a hard-working community that looks after those who need help. If chosen again as your national representative, I will continue to fight to preserve the East Surrey that we know and love."
