A 'Brew for the Few' on Kenley Airfield

Last Saturday afternoon (25th June) the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) Kenley & Caterham branch held its first 'Brew for the Few' tea party in aid of its Wings Appeal at the Portcullis Club on Kenley Airfield. More than 30 guests enjoyed the delicious selection of tarts, cakes and scones, skilfully made by Evelyn Klein and Julia Vandervord.

After a good chat over tea and coffee the guests were treated to a slide show by Hartmut Klein about one of the first airbases of the German Navy in Nordholz. It was here where the Zeppelin airships were stationed in WW1. The show also featured pictures of the former hanseatic cities Muenster and Hamburg and most importantly a tour of the Aeronauticum Nordholz, an aviation museum attached to the now NATO airbase. Hartmut's wife, Evelyn said: "We are so grateful for the support given by our guests today. The money raised will help members of the Royal Air Forces in need, in particular veterans of all conflicts and their families."

Hartmut added: "Everybody can help with a donation as small as £1 by taking part in our competition to win the popular RAFA Battle of Britain Teddy Bear."
