Dene Fête raises over £3,000 for local hospital
Published: Wednesday, 27 July 2011 20:40

The Dene Fête.

On Sunday 26th June the League of Friends of Caterham Dene Hospital (LOF) held their annual Fête in glorious sunshine at the Dene Field next to the hospital in Caterham-on-the- Hill. The event was well supported by the local community, raising over £3,000 for the hospital.

'Dudley'One of the highlights of the afternoon was the Dog Show with two year-old 'Dudley', owned by Andrew Holloway, winning Best in Show.

Roger Wright of the LOF explained how the money would be used at the Dene Hospital: "The LOF are awaiting the new GP Consortium for Tandridge Residents to go 'live' later this year. The LOF will then be able to discuss with the GPs any new equipment which may be needed at the Dene Hospital, a Hub to East Surrey Hospital. We are aware that the Rapid Assessment Unit is likely to need an Ultra Sound Machine costing £80,000 and there may be other equipment needed. The funds raised at the Dene Fête will go towards providing equipment for the new services to be provided by the Hub hospital."

The LOF comprises a small band of volunteers who organise the annual Fête and other events to raise vital funds for the hospital. If you would like to get involved or become a 'Friend of Caterham Dene Hospital' call Roger Wright on 01883 382350.
