Caterham has recently been listed by BT Openreach for a fibre upgrade to the town's telephone exchange. This will bring faster speed connections for internet use throughout the town.

Further detail will be released via the new Digital Caterham website, http://www.digitalcaterham.co.uk/, as exact coverage and timescale is confirmed.

Discussions have been active over the last six months, including participation by Sam Gyimah.

Chris Windridge, Chair of ABC said " We have been working towards this for the last six months. An important event was the Meet Caterham Business exhibition at the Soper Hall on Nov 25th ,when a number of meetings occurred. BT participated at the show, together with the Surrey Superfast Broadband team and several local businesses with Internet based interests. Tandridge District Council have also been involved and their support was essential.

"We will be looking at ways we can exploit faster internet for business, services and residential users within the town and Caterham exchange, as a gateway to other local towns, should help the case for them to be upgraded too."
