Top Award for Top Lion
Published: Friday, 13 April 2012 11:17

Godstone resident John Quincey who is Secretary of Caterham, Oxted and Godstone Lions has won the highest acclaim that can be awarded to a member of any Lions Club worldwide.

At the Club's monthly meeting Lion President Ken Reissland presented Lion John with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. This is given in recognition of the work done by and the commitment of outstanding individuals. The award is named after the Lions founder Melvin Jones. It is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of the work done by Lions worldwide. Those who receive this award are an example to all because of the exemplary service they have given not only to their Club but to the community which it serves.

On the same evening Lion President Ken presented John with his personal certificate and badge of appreciation for the support he had been given by John during the last few months. Lion Ken has been ill for some time and as John was last year's Club President he has been filling in for him as well as carrying on his secretarial duties. A glass of champagne and a few nibbles of smoked salmon were enjoyed by Club members as they celebrated with Lion John, with congratulations all round.
