Fun for all the family planned for Old Coulsdon’s Diamond Jubilee Giant Picnic

Grange Park, Old Coulsdon

A jazz band, tug of war, junior races, a barbecue and many other activities are being planned for a special Giant Picnic being held in Old Coulsdon to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Rotary Club, churches, schools, local societies and councillors are all supporting the event that is being held in Grange Park from 12 noon until 4pm on Tuesday, 5th June.

One of the organisers, Cllr. Chris Wright, said: "We wanted to organise an event for the many residents who cannot hold a street party, so they can get together for this special occasion. People have rallied round very well indeed and weather permitting it should be a good day."

The Mayor of Croydon will be attending to plant an Oak tree to commemorate the Jubilee and a plaque will be installed next to a Horse Chestnut that was planted on Bradmore Green in 1897 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Also planned is the naming of the road that crosses Bradmore Green, 'Jubilee Way'.
