de Stafford opens its doors to the community
Published: Friday, 04 May 2012 10:50

Businesses leaders, members of local organisations and the press were invited to de Stafford School in Burntwood Lane, Caterham on Thursday, 3rd May for their Community Open Day and were given guided tours around the school by students. The visitors had the opportunity to see the different departments, including art, music and IT and ask questions.

During their visit, PCSO Rupert Kelley and Youth PCSO for Tandridge, Amy Ord were shown the work the Year 10 IT students were doing for their GCSE Citizenship Studies.

PCSO Amy Ord said: "It has been a brilliant experience. It is good to go into the students' space and see what they are doing so I can go away and use what I have learned about them today in my work with local youths."

After being given a tour of the school, the visitors met head teacher Caroline Longhurst and other members of staff, both past and present. Their visitors expressed their thanks to Miss Longhurst for inviting to them school and commented on the courtesy and helpfulness of the young students they had met during their visit.
