Free Wills for people 55 and Over
Published: Friday, 25 May 2012 09:10

Marie Curie Cancer Care has joined forces with Dollman and Pritchard Solicitors in Caterham to provide a free Will-writing scheme to people aged 55 and over. The scheme will run until 30th June 2012.

The Marie Curie Cancer Care Free Wills Scheme offers people the opportunity to make or amend their Will, with the option to include a gift to support the charity's work in the future. The Marie Curie Nursing Service provides free home nursing care to people with a terminal illness, 365 days a year.

Will-writing specialists at Dollman and Pritchard will be on hand to offer advice and support under the scheme, which offers a limited amount of free wills on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no obligation to leave a gift to the charity, however, the hope is that many will use the scheme to settle their affairs and support Marie Curie's work.

Toni Denyer, Legacy Advisor for Marie Curie, said: "A will written by a solicitor is the best way to ensure that your family, friends and favourite charities will benefit exactly as you would wish. Statistics produced by the Law Society of England and Wales show that roughly two-thirds of people over 50 do not have an up-to-date will."

"We hope that this campaign will encourage people to have a will written and consider leaving a gift to Marie Curie at the same time. The more money we raise for Marie Curie, the more free care the charity can offer, and gifts left in Wills can help to ensure these services continue into the future."
