Dedication of temporary plaques at St. Luke’s Church
Published: Thursday, 31 May 2012 18:58

Last November over 90 memorial plaques were stolen from St. Luke's Church in Whyteleafe, to the anguish of many bereaved relatives. B.C. Baker & Son Funeral Directors based in Caterham have stepped in and provided new, temporary plaques for the relatives to install on the graves until they can be replaced with permanent plaques.

On Saturday 19th May a Service of Dedication of the temporary plaques took place at St. Luke's, attended by many of the relatives who had lost their loved one's plaques.

Reverend Bob Weldon thanked B.C. Bakers for supplying the plaques and praised the Whyteleafe Scouts for their hard work tidying up the cemetary before the service.

After the dedication ceremony one of the relatives, Norma Haines, said: "It is really kind of Bakers to donate these temporary plaques. They look really lovely. The graves now have their identity back."
