Caterham Town Crier, Sonia Hunt mingled with RAF veterans and performed the official opening of the Kenley Airfield Heritage Day on Sunday, 24th June.

The Kenley Airfield Friends Group in collaboration with RAFA (Royal Air Forces Association) Kenley & Caterham and 450 Squadron Air Training Corps organised the event at the historic airfield. Visitors were taken on guided walks, viewed WWII artefacts outside the Portcullis Club and had a look around the various stalls and display of military vehicles. A barbecue, Pimms tent and a homemade cake stall ensured there were plenty of refreshments to enjoy and some lucky visitors left with prizes they had won in the raffle.

Visitors also had the opportunity to meet members of Kenley Gliding Club and take a look inside the gliders, much to the delight of 10 year-old Joseph Parker from Essex (pictured right).
