“International” Football at Whyteleafe
Published: Friday, 12 October 2012 11:23

Whyteleafe FC are facing their biggest match for some years when they play Guernsey FC in the FA Vase this Saturday, 13th October at their Church Road, Whyteleafe, ground.

Guernsey FC were founded to provide senior football for the elite footballers on the island and have now been allowed to enter the English football pyramid. Despite their obvious travelling difficulties they have proved to be very successful; winning promotion in their first year and so far suffering only one defeat this season.

They have now been permitted to enter the national FA Vase competition and, having negotiated the qualifying completion, travel to Whyteleafe in the First round Proper. The winning side could well be appearing at Wembley Stadium in the Final next spring.

Guernsey TV are expected to attend and, with no Premiership or Championship matches in England this weekend, Leafe are hoping for a bumper crowd.

Admission is £6, concessions £3, with seating and free admission to the clubhouse included. Refreshments will also be available inside the ground.

Note, however, that the kick off will be 1pm, the early start being due to the visitors' flight times.
