This month we feature Chaldon resident, Alec Herbert. Alec is a professional gardener and, as a well-known expert on the local quiz circuit, writes the Quick Quiz for The Caterham Independent and District Independent every month.

Birthplace: Cheltenham.

Marital Status: Married.

Children: One daughter – Lorraine (Lorie).

Cars: Mercedes A Class 1700.

Pets: Dumbledore (a Scottie) part-time (he belongs to our eldest Grandson).

Childhood hero: Peter May, Cricketer. Favourite Food & Drink: Roast lamb, coffee at home, lager in the pub.

Pastimes: Gardening, quizzes and pool.

Likes: Cricket, having played senior cricket from the 1950's through to 2001 and horse racing – National Hunt obviously as someone coming from Cheltenham.

Dislikes: Discourteous driving and excessive bad language.

Favourite TV show: Only Fools and Horses.

Favourite books: The A-Z of Almost Everything published by the Daily Telegraph.

Where would you most like to live? We are happy where we are in Chaldon.

Favourite song of all time: Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty.

Favourite holiday destination: Barbados.

Biggest influence on your life: My father and my wife Ann.

Who would you most like to throw a custard pie at? Chris Evans.

Proudest moment: There have been a few but most recently a Church Marriage Blessing after fifty years of marriage.

Most embarrassing moment: Again, there have been a few but not for publication in a family newspaper.

Who would you most like to meet?

Lester Piggott or Alec Stewart.

If you won the Lottery jackpot, how would you spend it? I have never thought about it but little doubt we would find plenty to spend it on!
