Published: Saturday, 12 December 2009 04:48

Serjeant Ashley Beatens receives the trophy from Mrs Barbara Tween at the recent presentation ceremony.

Last month a special trophy was awarded to the Caterham Army Cadets in memory of the Chairman of the Surrey Army Cadet Force Association, Colonel Peter Tween who passed away last year.

Colonel Tween joined the Army Cadet Force in 1947 as a boy of 13. He went up through the ranks and in 1969 started the Caterham detachment of the ACF.

On receiving the silver trophy from Mrs Barbara Tween, Colour Serjeant Ashley Beatens said: "We are very proud to receive this tropy which will be held and dedicated to the cadets. The best cadet overall will hold this for six months which will be an inspiration to the rest of the cadets in the Caterham detachment".
