On Friday 9th November students from Warlingham School visited Parliament and met with Sam Gyimah MP. The students, who are all studying politics A level, put their questions to Mr Gyimah, who in turn explained the role of an MP, the nature of being in Coalition as well as detailing his new role in Government as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Prior to the visit Mr Gyimah rang the Headmistress, Alison Woodhouse, to congratulate her on the recent news that Warlingham School is to become an Academy.

Speaking after the event Mr Gyimah commented:

"I thoroughly enjoyed answering the thoughtful and informed questions from the Warlingham students, even the more tricky ones!

"Being able to visit Parliament is just one of the ways to make politics more accessible for young people, and it was great to meet so many students with an active interest in politics.

"I want to offer my congratulations to the school on the huge news that it is to become an academy. This marks a new chapter for the school, and with their results steadily improving I hope the school continues on this positive trajectory."
