Croydon Road traders bid a fond farewell to popular street-cleaner
Published: Friday, 01 February 2013 07:47

On Friday 1st February, street cleaner, Peter Goodger, will be sweeping the Croydon Road pavements for the last time before settling down to enjoy his retirement.

Peter, who has lived in Caterham for 25 years, has been working in Caterham Valley since starting in May 2005 and says he has loved it.

He said: "Caterham is a really friendly place and I have seen different people and businesses come and go over the last few years. In a way I am sorry to be stopping but it will be nice not to have to rush to get to work on time. I am looking forward to tinkering with my car and getting out to do some gardening."

Togz Ali, the owner of Bib & Tucker Dry Cleaners said: "Peter is a very nice guy and the town will miss him. He is the best road sweeper in England!"
