'Time for a Cuppa' at Oasis
Published: Friday, 15 March 2013 10:52

Local residents and other guests including parents and councillors were invited to the Oasis Academy in Old Coulsdon yesterday (Thursday 14th March), to enjoy delicious home-made cakes and a cuppa to raise funds for the Dementia UK charity. Year 9 student, Becky-Ann Bridger and her friends hosted the event in aid of Becky-Ann's granddad.

Becky-Ann said: My granddad had dementia and he passed away in December. I wanted to make money for Dementia UK and when I looked at the charity's website I saw the 'Time for a Cuppa' fundraising idea so we decided to hold a tea party at the school."

Becky-Ann and her team leafleted the homes of local residents to invite them to the event, which was well attended. The tea party raised £582 and the amount will be boosted further by sales of cakes to fellow students today.
