The ARC unveils plans for new facilities
Published: Thursday, 01 April 2010 07:07

The soft play area in 'The ARC'Plans are under way to install more play equipment at The ARC arts and play centre in Caterham-on-the-Hill to further improve its facilities. The building's owner, the Caterham Barracks Community Trust (CBCT) is also keen to get a bistro up and running and to start work on phase two of the project, a 220-seat theatre/ multi-use venue. Equipment for an extended baby and toddler space has already been bought on ebay and needs to be adapted to fit the space.

Dick Moran, chief executive of the CBCT, said: "Lots of people have said what a great idea community investment is, now we need them to buy shares. Our share issue has already raised enough money to get The ARC back on its feet and anyone who has visited recently will have seen how the sale of more shares enabled us to complete an extra section of the main play frame since we first reopened. If we sell more shares now, we can make The ARC even better for everyone and ensure that it becomes self-sustaining in the future."

The centre has been busy since its relaunch in February. However, it has relied heavily on its army of volunteers who are helping to keep the complex running until it raises enough money to cover its costs on an ongoing basis.

Shares are offered at a minimum subscription of 50 for £50 up to a maximum of £20,000. The public can also buy a £25 membership which entitles them to £1 off every soft play visit and 10% off a party booking or any other activity like a dance or drama class.
