Reward offered for information on Caterham armed robbery

Detectives from East Surrey CID appealed for information on an armed robbery at a travel agents in Caterham during BBC Crimewatch last night (Thursday 25th July).

The incident which occurred around 2.40pm on Monday, 8th July featured in the 'CCTV' section of the show which was broadcast on BBC1 at 9pm.

Officers' hope by appealing on national TV that the person caught on CCTV at the time of the offence can be identified.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Sean Kelly, said: "The man caught on CCTV is wanted in connection with this offence and I would urge members of the public not to approach or challenge him but to contact officers immediately if you can identify him or know his whereabouts."

A reward of up to £1,000 could be claimed from the independent charity Crimestoppers for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the offence which took place at Thomas Cook on Croydon Road.

Members of staff were threatened with what is believed to be a firearm before the man left with a sum of money.

Since the offence took place officers have been working with management at Thomas Cook to provide victim care for those involved and who witnessed the robbery.

Anyone who has information on the identity of the man seen in CCTV or the robbery is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/3211.

Alternatively you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with any information about the robbery and you may be eligible to claim a reward. To be eligible, information must be provided to Crimestoppers – information provided directly to police will not qualify.
