Appeal for information following theft of air rifles from scout hut
Published: Tuesday, 12 November 2013 17:02

Officers from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after three air rifles were stolen from a Scout hut in Caterham.

The theft occurred between 9am on Wednesday, 30 October and 9.30am on Saturday, 1 November at First Caterham St Mary's Scout Hut on Chaldon Road. It is believed that the offender or offenders gained forced entry through a fire door at the side of the building.

Investigating officer PC Helen Simon, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact Surrey Police as any information could prove vital to the investigation.

"Thankfully incidents of this nature are unusual and at this stage there is nothing to suggest that there is any risk to members of the public.

"The stolen air rifles have individual serial numbers and we ask anyone who has been offered such items for sale to contact officers with information.”

If you have any information which may assist with the investigation please contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/5311 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
