Thieves steal safe from Texaco garage
Published: Thursday, 09 January 2014 17:35

The Texaco garage on the High Street, Caterham-on-the-Hill.

Thieves steal safe from Texaco garage Officers from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after a large safe containing money and lottery scratch cards were stolen from a petrol station in Caterham. The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday, 6th January at the Texaco garage on the High Street. It is believed the offenders forced entry into the front of the store with an implement before removing the safe and its contents and loading it into an estate car which they had arrived in.

Investigating officer PC Sylvia Whyman, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw a vehicle in suspicious circumstances around the time of the offence to contact officers with information. "Usually offenders will scope out a potential scene prior to committing their crime and on this occasion those responsible showed some degree of knowledge for the area and therefore I believe they will have visited the location prior to committing the offence.

If you had seen anything suspicious which you think may connect please contact officers with information as a matter of urgency.” Anyone who has information on this incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45140001121 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
