On Saturday 25th January a celebration tea party was held at Chaldon Village Hall to mark the retirement of John Rawling who has been Chair of the Trustees of the Village Hall for 28 years and to thank the people of Chaldon who have contributed to the Village Hall Building Fund.

John was presented with a framed photograph of the Hall and a calendar depicting the history of the Hall by Liz Bonsall the current Chair of the Hall Trustees who also gave a brief history of the contribution John had made during his years as a Trustee. John’s wife Ros was also presented with flowers and thanked for her work in the village.

The Building Fund has now reached the grand total of £74,000 thanks to the generosity of the people of Chaldon, Surrey County, Tandridge District and Chaldon Village Councils as well as donations from individuals and groups. Work on new toilets and entrance area will start soon.
