Local four-part harmony chorus, Surrey Harmony, have added a silver medal to their already impressive array of awards.  Currently ranked 15th in the world, the 80-strong women's choir came second in the national championships held at the Sage in Gateshead on Saturday.  The judges praised their energy and vocal skills and were wowed by their colourful interpretations of the Edith Piaf song, "If You Love Me" and the exciting "Dixieland One-Step".  First-time medal-winner, Sandie Kirk, from Caterham, said that she was thrilled to hang the silver medal around her neck, but that it was just as much about the fun and laughter the group had had whilst away together.

3,000 singers from 28 choruses took part in the competition held by the Sweet Adelines international organisation.  The gold medal was won by Lace City chorus from Nottingham, who will go on to represent the UK in Houston, Texas next year.
