On yer bike Councillor!
Published: Friday, 21 May 2010 09:46

Tandridge District Councillor Pat Cannon  of Chaldon has been peddling himself around the Chaldon and Caterham area in preparation for his 'Castles to Coast' marathon bike ride over the end of May spring holiday.

Pat agreed to ride from Edinburgh to Newcastle late one night as part of a work related 'bit of bravado' after a drink or two and did not realise it came with a 'no way out' clause!

He will be joining with six work colleagues who will be riding for their individual charities and Pat has elected to ride on behalf of St. Catherine's Hospice.

The total distance for the ride is 174 miles and will commence on 27th May for three days.

Pat's itinerary:

Thursday Edinburgh to North Berwick/Dunbar (30 miles)
Friday to Berwick upon Tweed (44 miles)
Saturday to Amble (55 miles)
Sunday to Newcastle (45 miles)

Pat says "I've purchased a bicycle, lycra, shoes, helmet, safety top, etc. then there's the travel to Edinburgh and back again from Newcastle never mind the food and accommodation for three days, its cost me a small fortune but it's for an excellent cause and therefore well worth it! That's my donation to the cause.

Now I am coming to the public to help out and I am hopeful that people will get involved on the 'Just Giving' website and make a donation to this very worthwhile cause"
