New head teacher for Essendene Lodge School
Published: Thursday, 27 May 2010 07:03

This September a new head teacher will be taking over at Independent Primary and Nursery School, Essendene Lodge in Caterham-on-the- Hill. The post will be a second headship for Mrs J Wermig who is coming from a large girls' school in South Croydon. Mrs Wermig has had experience working in co-ed and single sex schools and working in both primary and secondary schools.

Mrs Wermig said: "I am really excited about joining Essendene Lodge and have been looking for a school like this my entire career!" Mrs Wermig has a good local knowledge of the catchment area as she attended schools in the Caterham area and all her previous experience has been in schools in London or Surrey.

"When I came to visit the school I was immediately struck by the warmth, friendliness and enthusiasm of the children and staff. Being in a family environment is very important to me both as a professional and a mother of three small children," she said. "I was made to feel very welcome by everyone I met and had the pleasure of spending a hour with Year 5. I found their keenness and willingness to share their educational experiences with me very infectious and am really looking forward to working with them in September."
