Published: Friday, 28 May 2010 09:41

In the early hours of Monday, 23rd May, the 11th Century Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Chaldon was targeted by thieves who were stripping lead from the roof.  The thieves were spotted by a Chaldon resident who alerted the police.  Officers swiftly attended the Church Road location and arrested three men on suspicion of theft.  Two men, both aged 22 and from Mitcham, have been released on police bail until 3 July pending further enquiries.
