Published: Wednesday, 16 July 2014 19:29

East Surrey MP Sam Gyimah has been appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Education as part of Tuesday's Government reshuffle.

The role is the third promotion within this Parliament for Mr Gyimah, who has previously served as a Government Whip and Parliamentary Private Secretary to Prime Minister David Cameron.

Mr Gyimah said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Education.

“Alongside my constituency responsibilities I am looking forward to taking on this new challenge, and being part of the team working to raise standards in schools.”
