Stepping out for the Summer Show
Published: Wednesday, 13 August 2014 18:08

The Grand Finale

On Saturday 28th July, some 227 children from Star Steppers Performing Arts Schools in Caterham, Reigate, Cheam, Stoneleigh and Oxshott performed their Summer Show at Sutton’s Secombe Theatre. For many of the children, who ranged in age from 3 to 16, it was their first taste of appearing on the big stage with professional direction, and sound and lighting effects.

The audience, mainly consisting of family and friends, packed the theatre to the back row and clearly enjoyed the show. Films such as Despicable Me, Grease, Hairspray and Harry Potter, among others, provided the inspiration for this movie-themed showcase of dance, singing and drama performances. The Finale of ‘Let it Go’ from ‘Frozen’ brought a happy tear to the eye of many a mum and dad and received huge applause.

Star Steppers directors Hannah Gunning and Anna Judge were ably supported by their team of teachers, and a helpful and caring army of parent chaperones.

The entire event from rehearsals to final performances was professionally captured on video and still photographs providing parents and friends with a lasting record of a very special occasion.
