Surrey Harmony, the award-winning women's barbershop chorus, has been invited to represent the UK at the Sweet Adelines International Contest to be held in Houston, Texas in October 2011. This incredibly prestigious invitation comes at a cost, however, as the chorus are expected to fund their own flights and accommodation. The chorus has a year of frenzied fund-raising activity lined up including jumble sales, a fashion show, a Ball and a quiz as well as a concert to be held at Caterham School on October 23rd. Surrey Harmony have said that what would really help them achieve their goal is the support of local businesses. Sponsors will benefit from many opportunities for associatied advertising.
