Man arrested on suspicion of murder following incident in Earlswood

A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of the body of a woman in Earlswood yesterday (Thursday 2nd June).

Officers were called to a residential address in Wimborne Avenue at 7.34pm where the woman, aged in her 30's was found.

A man, aged in his 40's, was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Taylor from Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: "I understand the presence of a large number of officers in the area this will have caused concern in the community. However I would like to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident.

"There will continue to be a number of officers in the area this evening and into the morning (3rd June) as we continue to investigate the circumstances of this tragic event.”
