The Village Inn raises £1,600 for cancer charity
Published: Tuesday, 05 January 2010 05:43

The charity's recently purchased second holiday home, T.J.'s Lodge in New Milton, Hampshire.

A children's cancer charity has received a boost to its funds following a fundraising event at The Village Inn in Caterham-on-the-Hill.

Owner of The Village Inn, Steve Kirk, hosted the event on 28th November in support of the Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund which has helped six yearold Megan Hierons, sister of Becky Hierons who works at The Village Inn.

£1,600 was raised through the proceeds of a raffle and a percentage of the bar takings on the night.

Megan suffers from Neuroblastoma which has resulted in her being paralysed from the waist down, and needing regular spinal surgery. The Thomas Ball charity pays for Megan and her family to go on holiday twice a year to give them a break from all the treatments and hospital visits.

Megan's sister, Becky, said: "On behalf of Megan and the rest of my family I would like to thank everyone who supported the event and Steve who generously hosted the evening.
