de Stafford sports hall floor test results
Published: Thursday, 30 September 2010 04:17

In August we reported that Tandridge Leisure were helping de Stafford School find a resolution to the problem of the damaged sports hall floor in the leisure centre in Burntwood Lane, Caterham. The maintenance of the centre is the school's responsibility but Tandridge Leisure have assisted the school by arranging for tests of the materials used in the original construction of the floor to be undertaken. The Director of Tandridge Leisure, Mark Symons, recently sent us the following statement: "The results of the testing and a structural engineer's report have been passed to County Council Solicitors acting on behalf of the school. The tests showed that the floor was not up to the original specification and so the matter is being taken up with the original contractor, R Durtnell & Son Ltd." A spokesperson for Durtnells said: "This is a complex situation that is being researched and we have no comment to make until the research is complete."
