Fascinating new exhibition opens at East Surrey Museum
Published: Thursday, 30 September 2010 05:05

A new exhibition has opened at East Surrey Museum in Stafford Road, Caterham, entitled: 'John and Edward Hassell - East Surrey 200 years ago and now'.

Before the days of photography John and Edward travelled all over East Surrey painting significant buildings inside and out as they went, particularly churches. The new exhibition shows a selection of their paintings alongside a modern photograph of the same scene. Some scenes are exactly the same as they were two hundred years ago, but others are completely different, so do get along to see this fascinating exhibition for yourself.

The exhibition is running until early November. Opening hours at the museum are 10am-5pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
