Youth facility reaches next stage
Published: Tuesday, 05 January 2010 06:27

Local councillors were given a guided tour of the new youth provision in Godstone Road, Caterham Valley last month, by some of the youngsters involved in its design. The major refurbishment of the building is now complete; a 'Youth Cafe' area, an Internet access room and a training kitchen are some of the functions to be found and when finished, promises to be a 'state of the art' youth facility. The project will be called 'Street', following a poll of youngsters in the area.

Sally Marks; the County Councillor for Caterham Valley who is providing the impetus behind the project said: "It is so exciting to see the reaction of the youngsters who last visited the building when we first took it over when it was in a very poor state. They can now see how the space has transformed into what they had hoped it would be. I can't wait to see it in full swing which should be in about March 2010. This is a unique investment into the young people in Caterham, and proof of our determination that they remain a priority for us all.'
