A 'Community Quiz Night' is being held on Friday, 3rd December to raise funds for the new community radio station being launched by Caterham resident, Mark Jones and his volunteer management committee. The quiz is being held at The Arc in Weston Drive, Caterham-on-the-Hill and starts at 7.30pm.

"I want to encourage groups to enter the quiz, e.g. teams from the local police, schools, bands, scouts, families/friends etc.," says Mark. "I have heard talk of a police team and ambulance team wanting to enter already!"

Mark is delighted at the number of volunteers that have come forward and the donations received to help get the radio station up and running. The management committee is in the process of applying for grants to give them the extra financial support needed to meet the costs of running the new radio station.

"It is frustrating because I really want to get the station broadcasting, but it takes time to get everything we need set up. We have had lots of items donated already, including a desk from the police, and a kettle for making the tea from M&P Electrical! Caterham Valley Parish Council have very generously donated over £600 for our public liability insurance for a year and Caterham Communications are supplying our telephone and broadband, so we are getting there!

"We need more volunteers and we need cash, so that's why I am organising this Community Quiz Night. It will be a really good night out so I want lots of teams to enter that represent different groups in the community including groups of friends of course!"

Aldo Floris, who has recently opened his new Italian brasserie and restaurant in The Arc, will be supplying the food for the Quiz Night. The tickets cost £10 each to include Aldo's Italian buffet.
