Poppy Appeal money pours in
Published: Friday, 03 December 2010 10:39

Remembrance Sunday at The Royal British Legion and Ex-Serviceman's Club in Townend, Caterham-on-the-Hill.

This year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal has so far raised over £750,000 in Surrey this year and the money is still coming in. The figure is more than £125k up on the same time last year. Approximately £13,000 was collected in Caterham and the final figure will be announced in the January edition of The Caterham and District Independent.

Barbara Henning of the Caterham branch of the Royal British Legion and Ex-Serviceman's Club said: "The Caterham collection raised £11,500 last year so I am very pleased to say we have raised more this year. I would like to thank in particular the Caterham Army Cadets who did fantastically well for us."

Peter Bruinvels of the Royal British Legion said: "The money is still coming in and I am really hopeful that we will make it £1 million again."
