Organisers of this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Caterham are delighted to announce that the total raised this year was over £14,000.

Barbara Henning of the Caterham branch of the Royal British Legion and Ex- Servicemen's Club said: "The Caterham collection raised £11,500 last year so I am very pleased to say we have raised more this year.

I would like to thank everybody in Caterham for their good support. Everybody supports the appeal, including local groups and the police.

The Caterham Army Cadets in particular did fantastically well for us. It has been hard work co-ordinating all the collections, but at the end of the day I am thankful for the satisfaction of knowing what has been achieved in Caterham."
