Appeal for information following burglary at Warlingham store
Published: Friday, 11 February 2011 06:28

Surrey Police is appealing for information following a burglary at a convenience store in Warlingham on the evening of Sunday 6th February. The incident happened between 9.30pm and 9.40pm when three or four suspects, wearing dark clothing, forced their way into the Sunstar convenience store on Harrow Road. Cigarettes and tobacco worth hundreds of pounds were stolen along with various bottles of spirits and cans of lager. The suspects were seen leaving on foot and a smashed bottle of liquor was found in a nearby cul-de-sac.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Tony Noble said: "I am appealing to members of the community to come forward with the information I need in order to arrest those responsible for this offence.

"This is not a victimless crime. The store was burgled twice last year and it is vital we catch those responsible so we can restore the owner's peace of mind by protecting his livelihood from these burglars.

"The community can really play their part by coming forward with the names of those involved in this burglary or if you are offered cheap cigarettes report it to us as they may have originated from this offence. "I would urge anyone with information regarding this burglary to please speak with an officer at Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference TD/11/603, or call Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous on 0800 555111."

Call 0845 125 2222 for all non-emergency policing matters. Call 999 if you have a genuine emergency requiring the attendance of the police (eg a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger). Call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have information about crime and don't want to leave your name.
