Rotary Golf Day raises thousands

On Monday, 14th May a Golf Day organised by Caterham Rotary Club and held at Bletchingley Golf Club raised nearly £4,000 for good causes. Half the proceeds will be donated to the Children's Trust in Tadworth with the remainder being donated to other local charities.

The money was raised by entry fees and proceeds from an auction and a raffle. The event was also supported by local businesses who sponsored tees or donated items for the auction or raffle.

David Monk of Caterham Rotary Club who was the main organiser of the day said: "The weather was reasonably kind to us with rain appearing only at the latter part of people's rounds. To raise nearly £4,000 in such difficult times is a magnificent amount and we are very grateful to all those who took part and the local businesses for their generous support. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, and there was a great atmosphere in the Clubhouse after play."

The 'Meridian Mishmash' team from East Grinstead Rotary Club were the overall winners; second came 'WAGS', from Woldingham and the 'Bletchingley Seniors' came third.
