The last month has seen a plethora of cup action for Whyteleafe, with participation in 3 competitions. The biggest of these was undoubtedly the FA Trophy, which saw us drawn at home to premier division Hornchurch in the 2nd qualifying round. The team put in a splendid performance and went into the 2nd half 1 up and very much in control of the game. However a questionable decision by the referee to show Leafe midfielder Coleman a red card changed the game and Hornchurch equalised soon after to earn a replay. Despite going into the tie with great confidence Whyteleafe failed to turn up on the night, and Hornchurch ran out deserved 4-0 winners.

Next up was the League Cup and a tough draw in the 1st round, away to premier division Carshalton. With a busy schedule ahead manager Massey rested a few regulars, but despite this the Leafe came away 3-1 winners, and were rewarded with a home tie against divisional rivals Godalming in the next round.

The third cup competition last month saw us in action against Met. Police in the Surrey Senior Cup and a thrilling game at Church Rd saw us run out 3-2 winners with Butler grabbing a 30 yard winner in extra time, necessary after the Met. Police keeper had scored an equaliser with the final kick in normal time.

With all the cup action, league fixtures were a bit thin on the ground, but two home wins, 5-0 v Horsham and 3-1 v Chatham, sandwiched an away defeat to leaders Worthing, and saw Leafe move up to 10th in the table, and the hope that a bit of consistency could see us into the play off positions.

December games include a Bank Holiday game (28th) against local rivals Merstham. See you there.
