Whyteleafe FC celebrates new 3G pitch by Chris Layton
Published: Wednesday, 16 July 2014 19:01

Caterham’s local senior non league football club Whyteleafe FC won promotion back to the Ryman League, topping the Southern Counties East League by 11 clear points back in April.

The summer has seen the club busy developing the ground in readiness for the new season and the centrepiece of all their work and investment is a brand new, state-of-the-art 3G pitch - an artificial surface which replicates a traditional grass pitch and a million miles from the awful old plastic pitches of the 1980s.

But it’s not just the pitch which has changed, the whole ground has had a facelift and the reaction of everyone who has dropped in at the ground or enjoyed a sneak preview has been the same – Wow! The ground looks fantastic and will be the envy of many senior football clubs across the South East.

It will be officially re-opened on Saturday 19th July with a friendly against Kingstonian FC, a match kicking off at 3pm and the ground officially opened at 2.45pm. (Gates open at 2pm).

Hot and cold food and drink will be available, bouncy castles, a bucking bronco and live music all evening should make it a day to remember.
